Dementia Training Australia’s award winning environmental design education service is available in all States and Territories
An environmental expert is available to provide on-site education, assessment and advice to managers, staff, project managers and architects who are keen to create more enabling environments.People with dementia, their families and friends are also invited to contribute to the discussion.
The focus could be on using an existing environment more effectively, on planning a new facility, or refurbishing an existing one. This includes aged, hospital and community care settings. Architect Kirsty Bennett leads the team of consultants whose combined expertise covers architecture, strategic planning, interior design, landscape architecture, nursing, psychology, operational management.
The service draws upon a range of components in a 6 part resource suite. It will typically include a detailed discussion of the application of evidence based design principles, an assessment of your facility or plan (“Environmental Audit”) and a discussion of recommendations for improvement. The audit is a standard component for DTA Tailored Training Packages.
