Designing for People with Dementia – workshop – Gold Coast, QLD

A 6 hour workshop on designing dementia-friendly aged and health care facilities

Research has identified that environmental factors can have a significant impact on our ability to live well, and are one major cause of changed behaviour in a person living with dementia.

Dementia Training Australia is offering this workshop to provide aged and health care facilities with the knowledge, resources and tools required to

  • enable staff and managers to understand the effects of the built environment on the person living with dementia
  • modify the environment so that it assists them to deliver care which promotes well-being while reducing confusion and depression

Learning Outcomes

This workshop:
  • Looks at ways that the built environment can support people living with dementia in acute and residential aged care settings, using examples and a case study
  • Introduces audit tools
  • Helps participants apply key design principles in particular settings
